  • Groningen Airport Eelde was established in 1931. In that time, the airport has grown into one of the largest airports in northern Netherlands. Besides holiday travellers (including from the border area) and business travellers, the trauma helicopter and defence forces also use the airport. In addition, the airport is also a place used as a training airport for organisations such as the KLM Flight Academy.

    Groningen Airport Eelde exists 90 years, they would like to celebrate this through a number of activities. As part of its 90th anniversary, the airport wants to set up an Experience Centre at the airport, telling the history of the airport. This should also inform visitors about the airport's future vision. The purpose of this Experience Centre is, on the one hand, to offer passengers something to do while waiting and, on the other, it should also serve as a visitor magnet. The assignment is to work with the airport and the airport restaurant to see how this Experience Centre can be designed. It is important to make it attractive, but it must not disrupt airport processes. The Experience Centre should be open for visits in Q1 2022.

My creations for the project

Within my role as Project Manager I mainly focussed on maintaining the well-being of the people in our team. Monitoring the quality of our project and its process was also one of the things I valued, along with UX/UI research and implementation. 

During the production phase I created the user interface of the prototype, built the scene using the 3D models provided by my team mates and also made some 3D models and animations myself.
