  • SC Cambuur is the club from Leeuwarden that has played in professional football in the Netherlands for decades. The club would like to grow into a stable premier league player. For that, an increase in revenue is needed. In the current stadium, the club is at its peak commercially, therefore a lot of energy is being put into a new stadium with more (financial) growth potential. Besides players of the first team, their trainers and coaching staff, a dozen people work in the office as support, there are youth trainers and coaching staff, and over 350 volunteers help with the club's ambitions.

Cambuur has been working on plans for a new stadium for several years. There is now an approved zoning plan, the brief is in place and most of the construction drawings are ready. Not many football stadiums are built in the world, which is why every stadium tries to have something unique. This also applies to the new Cambuur stadium. The aim is to build the most sustainable stadium in Europe. Plans are being made to make the stadium energy and water neutral. In addition, the club wants to try to do 50% of the completion of the stadium in a circular way by reusing materials, using bio-based and regional raw materials/materials. The stadium should become an icon project, it should be an example for others.

  • Develop a multimedia campaign raising awareness of waste recycling and activating Leeuwarden residents to collect waste (raw materials, plastics) that can be used to make the Cambuur logo for the new stadium.

    Project requirements

An elaborated strategy + creative concept in which you can make residents of Leeuwarden more aware of recycling (circularity) by “collecting” the Cambuur logo together / A catchy slogan and logo / A number of resources that match the concept and existing house style of SC Cambuur / A feasible and realistic campaign

My creations for the project

My creations for the project ↓

At the start of this project I had almost zero experience in campaigns and Adobe CC. Luckily I had an amazing team who taught me a lot of the skills I still make use of today. During the project I improved my Adobe skills greatly while being one of the people in charge of designing and producing assets.

As the person in charge of the communication, I learned a lot about campaigns and everything that happens during the process of creating one for a big target group. Curious about the communication plan? You can check it out here (Dutch)!

I animated mock-ups using the posters I previously made to show how they can be used in public, combining Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects
